Mark Scott Carter, 87, of Marion, passed on Friday, November 29, 2013, to his eternal home surrounded by his family. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by Rev. Mike Morgan. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Myrna; children, Pam (Chuck) Cropp of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Scott (Janice) Carter of Cedar Rapids, and Dale (Tina) Carter of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Michael Cropp, Tara (Cropp) Barbosa, Shannon, Danny, and Wade Carter, and Cassie (Carter) Kitterman; six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mica, Meadow, Ilya, Caleb, and Elijah; and his siblings, Dan Carter and Elizabeth Graham. He was the favorite uncle of the 6 Tonne girls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and David Carter; and two sisters, Maryann Gaffey and Margaurite Carter.

Mark was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on February, 28, 1926, the son of Pearl Scott and Elsie (Buss) Carter. He graduated from Nemaha High School. On August 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Myrna Irene Bailey. He worked as an electrician for Iowa Electric for 34 years.

Mark was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He played with the same card club for over 60 years. He also volunteered at the food bank for over 20 years. He loved woodworking, bird watching, fishing and traveling.
