Marjorie Rose Thatcher, 87, a longtime resident of Marion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at Agape Way Ministries, 995 5th Avenue in Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include, a daughter, Donna Schildroth of Fredericksburg; and two sons, Fred E. Thatcher and wife Dara of Springville and Ron Thatcher and wife Sue of Marion.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Glenn and Howard.

Marjorie was born the daughter of Elmer C. and Bessie E. McKenzie Miller on August 5, 1916 in Wellman. On February 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Fred Thatcher. He died October 7, 1982. She graduated from Wellman High School. Marjorie and her husband farmed for many years in the Wellman area until moving to Marion in 1953, where they continued farming. While raising her family she received her BS degree from Upper Iowa and went on to teach in the Marion School District. Marjorie was a member of Agape Way Ministries.
