Marjorie “Marge” Ozburn, 84, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Hiawatha Care Center from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. The family will greet friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, Bill (Vickie) Ozburn and Shane (Kim) Ozburn; daughter, Michele (Dave) Albert; five grandchildren, Cameron (Diana) Ozburn, Austin Ozburn, Jonathon (Michelle) Albert, Jenna Albert, and Hallie Ozburn; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Zoey, Abagayle, Lincoln, Mason, Elijah, and Owen; and her older sister, Eunice Diers of Edgewood. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Nancy Squires.
Marge was born October 4, 1931, the daughter of Harvey and Gertrude Koeneke. In high school Marge was involved in many activities including chorus, speech, theatre, Glee Club, cheerleading and was an amazing baton twirler for the high school band. Marge graduated from Colesburg High School in 1950 and moved to Cedar Rapids to work at Collins Radio Company as an electrical inspector. On May 1, 1955 she married Kenneth Ozburn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and together they made their home in Marion, Iowa, and raised three children. They both worked at Rockwell Collins for 36+ years and after retirement they wintered in Port Aransas, Texas enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, making new friends and collecting seashells along the beach. Ken passed away in 1996 and Marge became a regular mall walker at Lindale Mall and joined a senior citizen bowling league.
She impacted the lives of everyone she met so deeply. She was the most giving, kind and generous person to her family and friends.
