Marjorie “Margie” L. Davin, 86, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with Reverend Mike Morgan officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Margie was born November 11, 1932, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of John E. and Nellie M. (Cory) Hackert. She was a 1950 graduate of Alburnett High School. On February 25, 1956, Margie was united in marriage to Theodel “Ted” D. Davin. For 34 years, she worked at Price Electric & Hardware performing many duties including bookkeeping and sales. Margie then worked for Park Place Antiques for three years. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #298, serving as the President of the Women’s Auxiliary for five years, and Treasurer for 15 years. Margie enjoyed putting together puzzles all winter long and being outdoors in the summer. She was a very loyal diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Margie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margie is survived and lovingly remembered by her nieces, Robin (Randy) Jones of Cedar Rapids and Diane Morris (Phil Bennett) of Marion; nephew, John (Jolene) Hackert of Marion; three great-nephews, Cory (Stacy) Jones of Van Horne, Iowa, Ryan (Bailey) Jones of Springville, Iowa, and Andy Jones of Cedar Rapids; great-niece, Erin (Travis) Weis of Center Point, Iowa; three great-great-nephews, Garrett, Rhett, and Caliber; one great-great-niece, Harper; and many special, dear friends including Helen Christiansen, Helen Oldfield, and John and Diane Cram.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Hackert; husband, Ted Davin; brother, Bob Hackert; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Hackert.
