Marjorie D. Barr, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice. A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday April 13, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. A private funeral service will be held and a celebration of life at a later date. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Marjorie was born on November 12, 1928, in Shellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Eunice (Hunter) Barton. In 1944, she was united in marriage to Glenn Richard Barr in Hampton, Virginia. Marjorie worked for Linn Photo. She was a very active member of Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church and the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. Marjorie loved following her granddaughter’s softball team – she attended the state tournament on three occasions. She was a kind and generous woman who always tried to help others. She was a devoted wife and mother and was liked by all.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Diana Stanek of Cedar Rapids, Dixie (Daniel) Peden of Ely, Iowa, and Glenn R. Barr III of Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Arlene Broxley of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eunice Barton; her husband, Glenn Richard Barr II; and several siblings.
