Marian St. John, 76, of 204 Troy Street SW, formerly of 807 Ellis Blvd. NW, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, in her home, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Charles Smith. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Sisley Grove Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Jeraldine Parrish of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Henry Parrish, Sr. of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Leonard (Denise) Ohlhauser, Sr. of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, Sandi (John, Sr.) St. John, Viola (Jerry, Sr.) Bean, Kenny (Jodi) Ohlhauser, Helen Kester, Kelly (Mike) Kleiman, Robert (Sandra) Ohlhauser and John (Sandi) St. John, Sr, all of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kathlene Parrish of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Rose Mary Pauley of California; a brother-in-law, Charles (Kathy) Smith of Cedar Rapids; and her dog, Snuggles; her birds, Mama & Papa Bear; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore; a son, Walter Parrish; a daughter, Caroline; her siblings, Pauline Smith, Phillip Pauley and Kenneth Pauley; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Marian was born July 26, 1932, the daughter of Leonard and Verle (Ornsby) Pauley in Powersville, Missouri. She married Theodore St. John on August 28, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. He died August, 2005. Marian enjoyed crafts, spending time with her family, going to garage sales and second hand shops. She also enjoyed cooking, listening to all kinds of music and helping out with the Salvation Army. Marian attended the Salvation Army Church.
