Marion Lois Dean, 90, of Marion, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m., Thursday, until service time at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
Survivors include her sons, Charles L. Dean of Warner-Robins, Georgia, and Michael L. (Maureen Mugan) Dean of Marion; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 4 sisters; and 5 brothers.
Marion was born August 16, 1919, the daughter of Adam and Maude (Peyton) Hilsenbeck, in Manchester, Iowa. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1936 and married Charles H. Dean in 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died in 1979. Marion will be remembered for her devotion to caring for over 50 graves in the Manchester area for many, many years. She loved birds, flowers, and also gardening
