Marilynne L. (Baty) Frasher, 69, of Troy Mills, passed over into Heaven, January 18, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, following a short illness. A private family celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. There will be no visitation.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, George; her children, Marilee (Tom) Kinney of Woodland Park, Colorado, Jeff (JoAnne) Frasher of Troy Mills, Erin Van Houten of Melvin, Ginger (Jeffrey) Hazen of Bartonville, Illinois, Tara (Ken) McKelvey of Oregon, Wisconsin and Megan Frasher of Troy Mills; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving are two brothers, Carl (Rose) Baty of Anamosa and Norman (Bernice) Baty of Cedar Rapids; and three sisters, Margaret Clark of Postville, Beverly (Loren) Clark of Dorchester and Bonnie (Coy) Walton of Troy Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Thad Kinney.

Marilynne was born March 19, 1934, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Dale E. and Grace L. (McKee) Baty. She was valedictorian of the Troys Mills High School class of 1952. In Nashua, at the Little Brown Church, she married George V. Frasher on October 17, 1952. Merle, as she was affectionately called by her employees and customers, owned and operated Merle?s Point Restaurant in Center Point for eighteen years.

Marilynne especially loved children, her family, pets, nature, birds, and her flower gardens. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marilynne?s memory.
