Marilyn Baker Goodin McInroy, 67, of Hiawatha, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion by Rev. John Albertson. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her children, Melinda (David) Van Eeckhout of Arkansaw, Wisconsin, Stephanie Jill (John) Meskimen of Walker, and Robert Jay (Lisa) Goodin of Robins; seven grandchildren, Cole and Callan Meskimen, Iris and Baker Van Eeckhout, and Max, Gracie, and Annie Goodin. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard Myers of Ringgold, Louisiana, Joey (Carol) Myers of Canton, Texas, and Paul Myers (Steve Berry) of Dallas, Texas; and her sister, Cindy (Gordon) McCarty of Overton, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sandra McAlexander; and two grandchildren, Cline Meskimen, and Ezra Baker Van Eeckhout.
Marilyn was born December 16, 1941, the daughter of Abner Baker and Gladys Virginia (McFarland) Myers in Ringgold, Louisiana. She graduated from Ringgold High School and Louisiana Poly Tech Institute. Marilyn worked for Iowa Workforce Development for 24 years, retiring in 2000. She was an avid bridge player, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Most importantly, Marilyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
