Marilyn J. McCune, 70, of 2216 8th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, September 16, 2004, at home following a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelley Palmer and husband Gary of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Margaret McCune of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Jim Lorimer of Cedar Rapids; a half-sister, Jean Moldenhauer of LeCrescent, Minnesota; and four sisters-in-law, Louella Lorimer, Teresa Keister, Edna Pesek and Georgia Schilling, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents; and a brother, John Lorimer.
Marilyn was born February 6, 1934, the daughter of James P. and Lillian Mae (Voorhies) Lorimer, in Cedar Rapids. On May 14, 1955, she married Leo McCune at St. Patrick?s Church, in Cedar Rapids. Leo died on February 19, 1971. Marilyn was a retired security guard from Goss. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, VFW Auxillary, and a past member of ABWA. Marilyn loved people, babysitting dogs, coin collecting and ceramics. Marilyn was a loving mother and sister and whose laughter and sense of humor will be missed by all.
