Marilynn R. (Porazil) Lampe, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Inpatient Hospice in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Ludmila Church, Cedar Rapids. Private family burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Marilynn was born January 26, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Koutnik) Porazil. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959, Mt. Mercy in 1964, and received her master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She was an elementary educator at St. Pius, Taylor, Hayes and Madison schools. Marilynn was recognized in the Who’s Who among American Teachers Volume 2000. Retiring in 2002, Marilynn loved teaching and the connections she made with students in her 38 years of dedication. She loved the simple things in life; coffee, playing piano, reading, and creating inspiring paintings of trees and birds. Marilynn enjoyed all the moments she shared with her family and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. She will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Chuck Lampe of Marion, Iowa, Pat (Michelle) Lampe of Cedar Rapids, and Steve (Dana) Lampe of Marion; grandchildren, Brandon, Brooke, Ava, Logan, Mclay, and Carter; siblings; Charlotte (Ron) Schope of Dubuque, Iowa, and Marcia (Bob) Solem of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ann; sisters, Judy (Jim) Moore and Susan Herman; and infant grandson, Aaron Lampe.
The family would like to express special thanks to the entire staff at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospice, especially Angie, Kurt, Bobbie Jo, Chris, and Chaplain Dawn for their compassionate care as well as Jill and Gloria for their companionship.
