Marilyn Margaret Blakley, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Deborah Greene of Lowden, Iowa, Randall (Diane) Blakley of Urbana, Iowa, Johnny (Catherine) Blakley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jacob Blakley, Jr. of Center Point, Iowa, Danny (Johnathan) Blakley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Melanie Hatcher of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Nicky (Jinny) Blakley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Warran (Jodi) Blakley of Cedar Rapids, and Martin (Debbie) Blakley of Vinton, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Walter Draper of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Jackie; and brother, Roland.

Marilyn was born February 2, 1936, in Nebraska, the daughter of Rodney and Isabelle Petersen. In 1951, she married Jacob Blakley. Marilyn enjoyed country and blue grass music and her outdoor activities included fishing and gardening. She was very crafty and liked quilting. Marilyn was always a huge dog lover that kept busy multi-tasking. She was known as “Mother of Palo”. She had a diverse work history which included lunch cook, seamstress, nursing homes and uniform business to name a few.
