Marie June (McCann) Wright, 83, of Central City, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the Hiawatha Care Center after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at United Church of Christ, Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen (Gerald) Zimmerman of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Jean (Donald) Maricle of New Hampton, and Janell Wright and Vanessa (Robert) Beauregard, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Kathryn and Robert Zimmerman, Casey and Kelly Maricle, Heather Vittengl and Lindy and Jillian Beauregard; and a sister, Alberta Akers of Coggon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tracy; two brothers, Frank and Patrick McCann; and two sisters, Hazel Babak and Nettie Berhow.
Marie was born the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Mucha) McCann on June 1, 1920, in Motley, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Tracy E. Wright on October 26, 1940, in Central City, where the couple farmed and lived all their married life. Mr. Wright died June 22, 1998. Marie was a member of United Church of Christ in Central City.
Marie was a loving and devoted mother to her family. A strong believer in education, she loved history, traveling and collecting rocks and seashells. She also loved her roses, dancing and music.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Marie.
