Marie Hanson, 93, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her husband and son, April 19, 2016.
The family will greet friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Marion, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Reverend Steve Qualben. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery, Covington. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, is caring for Marie’s family and her services.
Marie is survived by her children, Carol (Bob) Livingston of Missouri, and Larry (Nancy) Hanson of Marion; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hanson of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; twenty five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Daniels of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; son, Marvin R.; and brother, Earl.
Marie was born March 23, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Josephine (Gibson) Minninger. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School. On September 5, 1939, she married Marvin W. Hanson in Cedar Rapids. She and her husband, Marv, owned two Shell Stations on First Avenue for many years. Marie worked for Iowa Electric Power, now known as Alliant Energy as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
