Marie A. Mercil Grevett, 90, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will begin at 6 p.m. Private family burial will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include her son John Douglas Mercil and wife Bernadette of Marion; a sister, Catherine Green of Virginia; four grandchildren, Loretta Slesar and husband Mark of Peawaukee, Wisconsin, James Mercil and wife Diane of Cedar Rapids, Theresa Mohwinkle and husband Mark of Marion and John Mercil and wife Angie of Marion; and nine great-grandchildren, Gina and Amy Slesar, Michael, James and Maggie Mercil, Sara and Dana Regan, Martin and Melissa Mohwinkle and Steven and Lauren Mercil.
Marie was born July 20, 1912, the daughter of Eugene and Mary LaBonne in Georgetown, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Alex Mercil and John Grevett; five sisters; and two brothers.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marie?s name.
