Marie E. Collins (Slaymaker)

Marie E. Collins, 107, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, formerly of 63 26th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at the care center, following a brief illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Darrell Eichorn of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Krista Thole and Roger Appelholm, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; several half-sisters and half-brothers, including Lucille McVey of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; an infant daughter, Wilma; two brothers, Joseph and Emmet Slaymaker; a sister, Loretta Preston; and grandchildren, Penny Eichorn and Peggy Appelholm.
Marie was born February 23, 1900, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Grafton and Anna (O’Laughlin) Slaymaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Crestview Acres, 1485 Grande Ave., Marion, IA 52302, in memory of Marie.
