Maridith Ann Koch, 79, of Marion, Iowa, died peacefully on February 23, 2022, due to complications from a stroke. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on September 11, 1942, the daughter of Rev. James D. Cockman and Mary Tanner Cockman.
She married Ken Koch on October 14, 1967, at Berea Temple, Assemblies of God Church in St. Louis. She graduated with a BS in Sociology from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ken, and three children, Geoff of Nashville, Tennessee, Jason (Olya) of Clarksburg, Maryland (Jacob, Jonathan, Justin), and Josh of Boulder, Colorado. Maridith is also survived by three siblings, Gary (Michelle) Cockman of Ocala, Florida, Carmen (Jim) Helton of Decatur, Illinois, and Marsha Sanders of Union, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Maridith was known for her spirit of adventure, love of music and travel, and her renowned gourmet cooking. She taught cooking classes at Kirkwood Community College and performed for several years with “New Notes.” Maridith was an avid gardener and loved to paint. Maridith and Ken loved antiques and traveled to numerous shops and shows. She was also a member of the Music Box Society International, attending conventions around our nation.
She had a love for style and carried herself with poise and elegance, blessing those she countered with her warm, southern sweetness throughout her years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Please join the family for a celebration of her life from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Her funeral will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Marion on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon and committal at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Maridith loved the Lord and was a devoted member of St. Marks for 16 years. She was baptized at Berea Temple and a lifelong follower of Christ. She now rests in the arms of her savior, Jesus.
