Marianne J. Hoyt, 70, of Springville, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial Service: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; a daughter, Becky Keast of Anamosa; a son, Jim (Candi) Hoyt of Ely; five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia (Doug) McMullen of Phoenix, Arizona and Cindy (Richard) Gaffey of Moreno Valley, California; sister-in-law, Joan Jossie of Coggon; and a half-brother, Martin (Jody) Jossie of Oak Creek, Wisconsin. She is also survived by Brandy, her beloved pet Pomeranian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Thomas L. Hoyt; and her brother, Stanford Jossie.
Marianne was born November 9, 1943, the daughter of Elmer and Naomi (Kearns) Jossie in Coggon. She attended Coggon High School. On August 16, 1960, she married Gary L. Hoyt in Cedar Rapids. Marianne worked for Rockwell Collins for 33 years. She enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, and riding with Gary on his motorcycle. Marianne was a member of the Springville Presbyterian Church.
