Marianna (Moser) Baskerville Kelchen, 87, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Earlville United Parish. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Earlville.
Marianna was born on June 19, 1927, at Greeley, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Elva (Niederfrank) Moser. She attended Greeley school and graduated in 1944. She then worked in Cedar Rapids teaching Hawaiian guitar. On September 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Baskerville. The couple farmed in the Greeley area. LeRoy drove school bus around Oneida, Greeley, and Delaware. He died in 1981. Marianna moved to Manchester and worked at the Golden Age Activity Center for thirteen years. She was united in marriage to Ernest Kelchen on May 2, 1987. The couple enjoyed dancing almost every weekend. Ernest died March 15, 2002.
Marianna is survived by six step-children, Larry Kelchen of Strawberry Point, Steve (Mary) Kelchen of Anamosa, Debra (John) Leonard of Ryan, Randy (Jan) Kelchen of Dundee, Lisa Kelchen-Rankin of Cedar Rapids, and Kathy (Patrick) Valant of Dyersville; eighteen step-grandchildren; eighteen step-great-grandchildren; a special cousin (like a sister,) Marge Erickson of Oneida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elsie (Emil) Althoff of Earlville, Grace Burkle of Dyersville, Harold (Pearl) Kelchen of Ryan, LeRoy (Rosalyn) Kelchen of Dyersville, Roseann Kelchen of Edgewood, Mary Kelchen of Edgewood, Leon (Dixie) Kelchen of Dundee, Gerald (Norma) Kelchen of Manchester, and Patsy Baskerville of Independence; and nieces and nephews.
Marianna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elva Moser; husbands, LeRoy Baskerville and Ernest Kelchen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd Kelchen, Eugene Kelchen, Verna Kelchen, Clete Burkle, Yvonne Peasley, and Leon Baskerville.
