Marian Nelson, 94, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. A private family burial will take place 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Marian was born November 27, 1923, in Dousman, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Hulls) Nelson. She graduated from Wilson Senior High School. During WWII Marian was known as “Rosie The Riviter” at Collins Radio. She worked and retired from Clemens Canvas & Manufacturing. Marian was an avid seamstress. She loved gardening, crocheting and knitting.
Marian is survived by her sister, Mabel Rouse of Marion; special nieces, Marilyn (Gerald) Heaverlo and Carolyn Novak both of Cedar Rapids; nephews, Thomas Rouse (Brenda Galli) of Hiawatha, Iowa and Greg (Karon) Redfearn of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and nine siblings.
