Marian I. Goranson, 93, of Manchester, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Visitation: 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2018, at Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Additional visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, Greeley, conducted by Rev. Mary Green. Burial: Pineview Cemetery, Delaware.
Marian was born June 21, 1925, in Delaware, Iowa, the daughter of Dell and Esther (Plumley) Zirtzman. She was a graduate of Delhi High School. On August 20, 1945, Marian married Robert H. Goranson at Delaware Methodist Church. Together they farmed for 28 years, near Greeley. Marian was then employed at the Good Neighbor Home until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church, the Rebakah Lodge, and American Legion Auxillary. Marian enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking and feeding the family.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Sherry) Goranson of Manchester, Jean Ann Lendt of Sioux City; grandchildren, Jason Goranson of Manchester, Dr. Angela (Rick) Greif of Anamosa, Brian (Amanda) Goranson of Dubuque, John (Melissa) Lendt of Sioux City, Connie Lendt of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Hannah Greif, Matthew Greif, Harper Goranson, Romy Goranson, Maxwell Nelson, Isabella Lendt, and Harper Lendt; brother-in-law, Lew (Shirley) Goranson, and sister-in-law, Orion Zirtzman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Goranson; brothers, Delbert Zirtzman and Ed Zirtzman; sisters, Della Powers and Geraldine Glanz; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Regional Medical Center Hospice and Dr. Christiansen for the care shown to Marian and her family.
