Marian Madaline Christensen, 80, of 252 Mayden Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, September 2, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Ed Powers. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Christensen of Maryland and Randy (Bonnie) Christensen of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Peggy (Wayne) Becicka of Shueyville and Pamela (Larry) Langton of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Jill) Christensen, Kyle Christensen, Terry (Chris) Anderson, Steve (Diana) Becicka, Amy Becicka, Jodi (Braden) Griffith, Marcus (Carrie) Langton, Melanie (Dan) Sundstrom and Angel Langton; seven great-grandchildren, Zach Becicka, Ashley Sundstrom, Stephanie Matheny, Alyssa and Megan Anderson, Marissa Griffith and Ava Langton; two brothers, Charles (Joyce) King of Port Byron, Illinois and Gerald (Verna) King of Washington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland; her son, Lonnie; four brothers; and one sister.
Marian was born January 14, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Cora Belle (Huston) King, but soon moved across the Mississippi and went through school in Cordova and Port Byron, Illinois, graduating in 1944. She then worked in a foundry in Bettendorf, Iowa helping make parts for tanks used during the war. She moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1950 and started working at Collins Radio in 1954 retiring at the end of 1984 after 30 ? years of service. Marian took time out in 1944 to go to Oakland, California where she and Leland were married before he had to go overseas.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the Chada Pautz Fellowship group. She enjoyed collecting cardinals and angels.
