Maria Helena ""Marie"" Mcvay (Furler)

Maria Helena "Marie? McVay, 90, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, December 17, 2006, at the care center. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Edwin (Beverly) McVay of Center Point; a daughter, Karen (Dick) Schmid of Central City; a son, Ronald (Cathie) McVay of Walker; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Corht and Selma Furler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents; two sisters, Louise and Lydia; and four brothers, Albert, Arnold, Ernie and Ed.
Marie was born on August 24, 1916, to Fritz and Ida (Walters) Furler and married Herbert Earl "Herb? McVay on February 19, 1935. He died May 28, 1991. Marie was a homemaker of the family farm and had worked as a cook at various area restaurants.
Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association in Marie?s memory.
