Marguerite A. Newman Krouse, 96, of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at the care center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Sneller. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville.
Survivors include two sons, Wally and wife Barb of Cedar Rapids and Larry and wife Donna of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jeff and wife Cathy of Fairfax, Iowa, Dave and wife Sherri of Gilbert, Arizona, Scott of Glendale, Arizona, Shelly Pinter and husband Danny of Cedar Rapids and Stacy Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; ten great-grandchildren, Jenna, Hunter, Parker and Ryan Krouse, Keagan, Jake and Brady Pinter, Devin and Daryon Brown and Brayden Donan; two sisters-in-law, Betty Newman of Des Moines, Iowa and Wiltrude Newman of Center Point, Iowa; and many nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; a sister, Madge O?Dossa and husband Gaylord; three brothers, Merle and wife Mabel Newman, Wendell and Clarence Newman; and her stepmother, Essie.
Marguerite was born September 25, 1908, the daughter of David and Stella Neighbor Newman, near Toddville, Iowa. She attended Coe College and taught in a one room school house. On June 4, 1931, she was united in marriage to Floyd Krouse in Cedar Rapids. He died May 16, 1987. Marguerite worked at Killians Department Store for 15 years. She was a member of the Cedar Christian Church and the Link Belt Speeder Retirees.
