Margie Smith, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa. Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Laurel (Lyndon) Newton of Cedar Rapids, Patricia Taylor of Hiawatha, Eugene Smith III of Illinois, Timothy Smith of East Moline, Illinois, Floyd (Shelly) Smith of Houston, Texas and Pamela Smith of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harriett Blackman of Florence, Arizona and Henry Glasby of Davenport, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Anthony Glasby; three sisters: and four brothers.
Margie was born on October 12, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Floyd and Margie Glasby. She married Eugene “Smitty” Smith, Jr. on May 11, 1965, in East St. Louis, Illinois. She worked in healthcare and retail. She truly loved to shop and watch The Young & The Restless. Margie enjoyed going to family functions and spending time with her grandkids.
