Margaret R. “Peg” Wilkinson, 81, of Marion, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at her home following a short illness. Family will greet friends from 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Eagle Ridge Community Center, 1285 Red Fox Way, Marion, Iowa. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, rural Central City. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Sue Wilkinson of Cedar Rapids, Carol (John) Callahan of Bernard, and Karen (Rich) Mayzel of Upton, MA; 4 grandchildren, Ty (Julie) Petsche, Jim Petsche, and Casey & Ally Mayzel; 4 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Megan, Zachary, and Ryan Petsche; a sister, Bette Engebretson, Sun City, AZ; 3 sisters-in-law, Mae McGuire of Cedar Rapids, Millie Wilkinson and Evelyn Wilkinson, both of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William and Jim McGuire; 5 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and a nephew.
Peg was born December 29, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Ruth (Easterly) McGuire. She graduated from Mt. Mercy Academy in 1947. On September 11, 1947, Peg was united in marriage to David Wilkinson in Cedar Rapids. He died January 13, 2009.
A memorial fund has been established in Peg’s name.
