Margaret L. Walker, 86, a longtime resident of Marion, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Howard Chapman. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m. today (Thursday.) Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Steven Walker and wife Cathy of Marion; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Walker of Marion; five grandchildren, Kevin Walker and wife Tara, Doug Walker and wife Renee, Bryan Walker, Todd Walker and wife Melissa and Stefanie Walker; and four great-grandchildren, Klein, Karlee, Keegan and Kaden Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William D. Walker; and a son, Gary.
Margaret was born June 10, 1918, the daughter of Jerry and Mabel (Price) Lesher in Marion, Iowa. She was a graduate with the Class of 1935 from Marion High School. On August 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to William D. Walker in Kahoka, Missouri. He died March 3, 1977. Margaret was employed at Rockwell-Collins for twenty-one years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion and a past member of New Encounters, Senior Citizens Council and All Church Singles.
Margaret loved to travel, play cards and spend time with her friends. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
