Margaret Lund Simon, 95, of Vinton and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Virginia Gay Annex, Vinton, of a lengthy illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev Jim Blair. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her step-children, Judy (Dennis) Parry of Marion and Janet (Darrell) Kenney of Vinton; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Parry, Tracy Heidt and Jeff and Mike Kenney; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
Margaret was born May 2, 1908, the daughter of Samuel and Isabelle Craig Hennigar, in Charles City, Iowa. She married Merrill Lund on June 30, 1930, he died in 1982. She then married Vernon Simon on June 7, 1986, he died in 2001. Margaret worked as a registered nurse at Dr. J. K. Von Lokum?s office for 33 years and Dr. M.E. Godbey?s office for four years. She was a member of Soraptimist International of Cedar Rapids and Marion and St. Luke?s Alumni Association. Margaret was a past member of Cedar Boat Club, Cedar Rapids Women?s Club, Vinton Presbyterian Church and O.E.S. Vinton Chapter 90. She loved boating and the river and was an avid bridge player.
