Margaret Atlanta Pitcher, 100, of Linwood Apts., died Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Committal Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Bob Dagit. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include sister, Doris St. Peter; stepdaughter, Colleen Hansen; stepson, Danny (Caroline) Pitcher; two grandchildren, Donald (Pam) Glynn, Jr. and Martin (Christine) Glynn; son-in-law, Donald (Ruby) Glynn, Sr; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Carol Glynn.
Margaret was born January 3, 1911, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Porter) McNary, in Brooklyn, Iowa. She married Paul Burcham and later divorced. On March 27, 1953, she married Clayton Pitcher. He died April 20, 1966.
Margaret was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed church, reading scriptures, working crossword puzzles, bowling and traveling.
