Peg was born May 14, 1934, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She graduated from Ottumwa High School and worked various clerical jobs in Cedar Rapids and Marion throughout her lifetime. Peg was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a great cook and loved hosting gatherings with family and friends. She also loved her crafts, playing cards, Jeopardy, and an occasional game of Bingo.
Peg was an avid sports fan, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Marion Indians, Simpson College, and whatever team her son-in-law Bill was coaching. Among her favorite players were “her girls” that played Marion Girls Softball throughout the 30 years, in the league that she established in 1984. Peg spent countless hours directing the league and loved to spend her summer evenings at the fields watching the girls play, chatting with parents, grandparents, coaches, the girls…. anyone really. She was humbled to have the fields named in her honor on the 10th anniversary of the league.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marion Girls Softball.
