Margaret "Peg? A. Nefzger, 65, of Earlville, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. Family will greet friends from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville where there will be a wake service at 4:30. Friends may also call after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph?s Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.

Peg was born September 20, 1940 in Cascade, the daughter of Orville A. "Luke? and Hilda A. (Hosch) Leytem. In 1958, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Monticello. Peg attended a year of business college in Cedar Rapids before working as a secretary for the owner of Energy Manufacturing in Monticello. On July 24, 1965, Peg was united in marriage to John C. Nefzger at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sand Springs. The couple farmed north of Earlville.

Peg was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville. Her faith was foremost in her life. Peg enjoyed baking, gardening, helping others, crafts and woodworking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Peg is survived by her husband, John C. "J.C.? Nefzger of Earlville; four children, Rodney (Connie) Nefzger, Patti (Gary) Hoeger, Brian Nefzger and Brenda (Terry) Elgin, all of Earlville; eight grandchildren, Heather & Harley Nefzger, Holly, Heidi & Chris Hoeger, and Trevor, Brooke and Trista Elgin; a brother, John (Jane) Leytem of Hopkinton; two sisters, Jennifer (Don) Felton of Hopkinton and Kim (Roger) Hunt of Earlville; and her in-laws, Theresa (Jim) Boge of Earlville, Jim (Lillian) Nefzger, Allie Nefzger, Jerry (Susan) Nefzger, all of Delhi, and Mary Kay (Phil) Turnis of Manchester.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, Luke & Hilda Leytem; her husband?s parents, Elmer & Kathryn Nefzger; and one niece.
