Margaret “Jean”. Morris, 87, of Center Point, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday April 12, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Richard Morris of Center Point and Sharon (Karl) Kirkpatrick of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Jealee (Matt) Hall-Jones and John Hall; two great granddaughters, Aspen and Raven Hall; and one sister, Roberta Anderson of Splendora, Texas.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Betty Greene, Dorothy Weber and Zinita Morris.
Born October 3, 1926, in Buchanan County, Iowa, Margaret was the daughter of William and Gladys (Moore) Wedge. She graduated from Quasqueton High School and Iowa State Teachers College. Margaret was a replacement teacher for rural Buchanan County country schools. In 1949, she married Harold Morris. They divorced in 1971. She worked for Honeywell Micro Switch in Independence until it closed in the early 1960’s and then went to work for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1992.
Margaret’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She belonged to the Happy Hour Card Club and enjoyed going to casinos to gamble.
