Margaret "Maggie? Lee Griffin, 53, of 522 2nd Street S.W., died Sunday evening, August 15, 2004, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Wendell Beets. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Moses Griffin of Greenwood, Mississippi; four daughters, Cerenna Griffin, Ruthie Mae Griffin, Minnie Louise Wright and Maxine Wright Williams, all of Cedar Rapids; a special foster son, Jody Pruett of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren, Keshawn Wright, Phelippe Wright, Latoya Wright, Cherelle Griffin, Cordaro Griffin, Silas Griffin and Ranisha Wright, Yolanda Wright and Johnny Oliver, all of Cedar Rapids, and Leneice Wright of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren, Lanaysha Griffin, Cimone Wright, Dominique Wright, Destiny Oliver and DeVieon Oliver, all of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Lee Wright, Robert Redmond and Perry Harris, all of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Kaldonia Wright of Sidon, Mississippi; a host of twenty-two half brothers and sisters in Greenwood, Mississippi; special nieces, Carolyn Jean and Carrena Wright of Cedar Rapids; and many great friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father Woodrow Wright; mother, Minnie Jones; and three brothers, LeRoy Wright, Henry Holmes and Roy Custard.
Born November 9, 1950, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Woodrow and Minnie Lee Harris Wright, she married Moses Griffin in 1968.
