Margaret A. “Miss Maggie” Freeman, went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January, 18, 2014, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Dan Wiersema. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: North Lawn Cemetery at a later date, Canton, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Freeman of Cedar Rapids; children, Stephen Turner of Michigan, Dyann (Shaun) Bethune of Centerville, Iowa, Denice (Kenneth) Burr of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Donna (Jeff) Sherritt of North Canton, Ohio, David Gross of North Canton, Ohio, Kathryn (Brian) Moser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Shannon (Darryl) Studt of Lisbon, Iowa, and Sean Freeman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; twenty grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Andaloro of Springfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard Wierich.
Margaret was born on March 20, 1933, in Canton, Ohio, daughter of Robert and Mary (Saylor) Weirich. She married Elmer “Jim” Freeman on August 4, 1968, in Winchester, Virginia. Margaret attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Miss Maggie thoroughly enjoyed teaching preschool at Jane Boyd where she influenced the lives of many children. Her work was her passion.
