Margaret G. "Aunt Mugs" Myers (Newman)

Margaret “Aunt Mugs” Grace Myers, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, January 23, 2014, peacefully at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Family Graveside service will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Rapps; nephews, James (Jerry) Buttleman and Randy (Misty) Newman; three great-nieces and nephews, Steve, Sheryl and Josh; and five great-great-nieces and nephews, Megan, Zach, Tyler, Marie and Ivan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; brother, James Newman; and nephew, Duane “Spike” Buttleman.
Margaret was born November 19, 1922, the daughter of Delbert and Caroline (Schmitt) Newman, in Central City, Iowa. On June 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Donald Myers. He died March 29, 2000. Margaret worked as a secretary for Collins Radio, Masonic Library and most recently worked at Wal-Mart.
Margaret enjoyed garage sales and Amway. She also enjoyed helping Don run the Texaco Station at 6th Street and 22nd Avenue for many years. They both were involved in Masonry, Eastern Star and Shrine.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in memory of Margaret.
