Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Big Springs Cemetery in Alcester, South Dakota.

Marceil was born on April 23, 1946, in Worthington, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Vernis (Johnson) DeJager, of rural Rushmore, Minnesota. Marceil grew up on a farm and always felt that was a blessing. She attended a country school before they consolidated in Rushmore, then graduated from Worthington High School, Class of 1964. She went on to attend Nettleton Business School, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1965. On November 26, 1966, Marceil was united in marriage to Winston Dewey Edson in Rushmore, Minnesota.

Marceil was a member of Cedar Valley Bible Church, Friendship Force International, and Child Evangelism Fellowship. She had a servant’s heart and loved being around people. Marceil couldn’t understand why she did not get things done. Well, that is because she was involved with others. Marceil also loved to sew and read as time permitted. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marceil is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 55 years, Winston Edson of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Heather (Kirk) Herman of Cedar Rapids; son, Aaron (Jennifer) Edson of Anamosa, Iowa; five grandchildren, Zak (Katie) Herman, Alonzo (Annalise) Herman, Brooke Sargent, and Cody and Tyler Edson; three great-granddaughters, Journey and River Sargent, and Charlotte Herman; and two sisters, Karen (Greg) Frey of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, and Carol (Johnnie) Webb of Moore, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Muriel Tholen; and brother-in-law, Ed Tholen.

Memorial donations may be made in Marceil’s memory to either Cedar Valley Christian School or Child Evangelism Fellowship - Hawkeye Chapter.
