Mahlon “Willis” Conrad, 98, of Manchester, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Gospel Hall, Manchester, by Robert Orr. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Manchester and one prior to the service on Monday at the Hall. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Willis is survived by his wife, Betty of nearly 70 years; two sons, Mahlon “Mal” Conrad and Steve S. Conrad; two grandchildren; Chris and Luke Conrad; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Sydney and Caden Conrad; a sister, Margaret (Cecil) Sankey; and many nieces and nephews.
Willis was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bettina Sue Conrad; a brother; three sisters; and two daughter-in-laws.
Willis was born November 1, 1915, the son of Mahlon and Maude (Griffith) Conrad in Otterville, IA. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On August 30, 1944, Mahlon was united in marriage to Betty Smith, in Manchester, IA. He worked in the Industrial Construction business as an electrician.
Willis enjoyed fixing clocks after his retirement and loved to play the harmonica and violin. He attended Bible Conferences all over the Midwest.
