Mae R. Miller, 90, of Ryan, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2005 at Manorcare Health Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan. Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. The Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.

Mae Rose was born on May 17, 1914 in Ryan, the daughter of Frank and Mary Ellen (McCusker) McAreavy. She attended schools in Ryan and graduated from St. John?s High School in Independence in 1933. Mae then worked in Iowa City and Washington, D.C. where she met William Miller. He was convalescing after being severely wounded in combat during World War II. Mae and William were united in marriage on August 16, 1945 in Dyersville. The couple resided there until June of 1962 when they moved to a farm at Ryan. They lived there until 2002, when they together moved to Manorcare Health Center in Cedar Rapids.

Mae was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan, the Ryan American Legion Auxiliary #692 and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mae is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Miller of Cedar Rapids; four children, David (Joyce) of Ryan, Dennis (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Darla (Steve) Stepanek of Manchester and Duane (Barb) of Bolingbrook, IL; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Schultz of Independence.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Mary Ellen McAreavy; two brothers, Dorrance and Loras McAreavy; four sisters, Bernadette McAreavy, Bernice Curry, Kathleen Schultz and Lorraine McGuire; and two grandchildren, Janice Miller and John Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ryan Veterans Living Memorial or Divine Word Seminary.
