Madge Mary Rudy, 88, of Manchester, Iowa died Tuesday evening, July 6, 2004 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester after a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Manchester United Methodist Church by Rev. Roger Henry. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.

Madge was born August 6, 1915 in Prairieburg, the daughter of Frank and Sarah Carr. She attended country school near Prairieburg and graduated from Coggon High School. Madge worked in the state of Washington in the 1940?s. She moved to Manchester to work as a housekeeper for the Stearn?s family. Madge then worked as a sales clerk and bookkeeper at the Gambles Store. On December 9, 1951 Madge was united in marriage to Howard W. Rudy at the Manchester United Methodist Church. The couple farmed north of Manchester before they retired and moved into town. Howard died April 1, 1996.

Madge was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Rebecca Circle. She loved gardening and belonged to the Garden Club. Madge will be remembered as one who enjoyed cooking for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and took special pride in her grandchildren.

Madge is survived by her son, Allen (Maggie) Rudy of Radcliffe, IA; two grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Rudy; and a brother, Paul (Blanche) Carr of Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard W. Rudy; a brother and his wife, Parley & Una Carr; and four sisters and their husbands, Dorothy (Elmer) Richardson, Inez & Charley Spindler, Mertle Carr and Berniece Carr in infancy.
