Madeline Marie Sperry, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Meadowview Memory Care Village, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. William B. Harnish. Family will greet friends from 1-4 Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg, Iowa.
Surviving children, Shirley (Robert) Feiereisen of Walford, Iowa and Virgil Ray (Karen) Sperry of Lafayette, Georgia; grandchildren, Wendy (John) Flanscha of North Liberty, Stacey (Scott) Williams of Cedar Rapids, Adam (Marwick) Sperry of North Hollywood, CA and Cindy Sperry of Alexandria, VA; great-grandchildren, Randy, Crystal, Madeline, Mason, Cole and Mikaela; siblings, Don Griffin and Dorothy Bennett both of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Gayle Griffin of Dysart, Iowa and Nina Jusman of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brother, James, John and Eugene; and two sisters, Mary and Ida Joan.
Madeline was born on May 10, 1922, in Parnell, Iowa, daughter of James and Sadie (Mincer) Griffin. She worked at Wilson Foods for 36 years, retiring in 1983. Madeline was married to Clyde Sperry on September 15, 1941.
She enjoyed socializing with friends and family including playing Bingo. She also liked to travel to California, Georgia and Malaysia.
