Mac H. Stone, 92, of Central City, died Monday, November 4, 2002, in his home, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 11, at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday. Inurnment: Mount Clark Cemetery, with military rites.
Surviving are his two daughters, Dorothy "Duffy? Crowe and husband Bill of Beaverlett, Virginia and Sharon "Shari? Timms and husband Dick of Central City.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Sam.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeanette, two sisters, Vera Gustafson and Mabel Dolliver and a brother, Frank Stone.
He was born the son of Martin and Clara (Edgerly) Stone on February 6, 1910, in Homestead, Montana. On January 27, 1936, in Central City, he was united in marriage to Jeanette R. Comley. Mac served in the U.S. Army Cavalry from 1933 to 1934 and in World War II with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Rockwell Collins as a fixture maker for twenty years and was a real estate broker.
Mac was a founder and 1st commander of Amvet Post #37, a fifty year member of Level Lodge #284 AF & AM, a member of the Historical Society, United Church of Christ and a life member of American Legion Wapsie Post 421.
