Mable Y. Wittman, 92, of Keota, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday May 23, 2012, at Maplewood Manor, Keota, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by Rev. Roger Mckinstry. Family will greet friends on Friday, May 25, 2012, from 6-8 pm. Mable was born May 11, 1920, in Edgewood, Iowa, to Oley Burr and Bertha Sarah (Fishel) Sprague. On September 15, 1939, she married Carroll W. Wittman in Elkader, Iowa. She worked for the Hingtgens’, Strossmens’, and Murdoch families. Mable enjoyed camping, fishing, doing her needle work, and walking her dog, Chad.
Survivors include her daughters, Corrine “Kay” Sutton of Marion, Iowa, and Phyllils Wright of Keota, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Dawn) Sutton, Sheryl (Scott) Dolley, Bradley Wright (partner Eric Felty), Brian (Crystal) Wright, Paula Wright; and great-grandchildren, Erica (Chet) Cave, Leah (Trevor) Hayes, Taylor Wright, Erin Wright and Ellen Wright, Justin Dolley, Alizabeth Sutton and Alex Sutton; two great-great-grandchildren, Porter and Hadley Cave.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oley and Bertha; brothers, Charles, Claude and Eldred Sprague; sisters, Irma Malone and Bernice Fry; sons-in-law, Ron Sutton and Roger “Pete” Wright; and great-grandchild, Julian Vernon Dolley.
A memorial fund has been established at the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mable.
