Mable A. Hutchins, 92, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, and a longtime resident of Central City, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Central City United Church of Christ, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Private family committal services will take place at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City before services at the church.
Survivors include her sons, Leo (Twyla) Hutchins of Marion, Jim (Neomia) Hutchins of Kilkenny, Minnesota, and Harold (Joyce) Hutchins of Central City; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Louis Henriksen of Mankato, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie; a daughter, Londa Smola; two grandsons, Peter Hutchins and Gary Hutchins; a great-granddaughter, Amy Ware; three sisters, Viola, Arline and Florence; and three brothers, Lester, Alvin and John.
Mable was born April 10, 1911, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Torkelson) Henriksen in Vesta, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Louie L. Hutchins in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in September of 1930. He died in April of 1991. For many years, Mable worked with her husband at Witwer Turkey Farms of rural Marion. She was a member of the Central City United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed the Agoma Class.
Mable enjoyed homemaking, including gardening, cooking and caring for her family. Mable was an energetic person who will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family and friends.
