Mabel F. Long, 88, of 136 36th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear.
Born August 12, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mabel was the daughter of Raymond and Inez (VanDee) Neal.
Survivors include her children, David (Karen) Long, Dianne (John) Markitan, Coralie (Paul) Osterkamp, Douglas (Margaret) Long, Sue (Jim) Snyder and Phyliss Long; ten grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, William (Evelyn) Neal and Norman Neal; brother-in-law, Willard Vokt; sister-in-law, Lucille Karr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Corles; siblings, John Neal, Margaret Fisher, Madeline Bell and Clara Vokt; and one granddaughter, Barbara Budde.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ely Volunteer Fire Department 1300 Main Street, Ely, Iowa 52227, in Mabel’s memory.
