M. Jeannine Nielson (Freeman)

M. Jeannine Nielson, 75, of 3346 Jordan’s Grove Road, Marion, died at her home Thursday, June 19, 2008, after a short illness. Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 23, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with services conducted by Chaplain Kim Vogel. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service on Monday. Inurnment: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, rural Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; two daughters, Justine (Jim) Meyerhoff of Cedar Rapids and Sandra (Carl) Stein of Odessa, Missouri; five grandchildren, Molly, Kelsey, Joel, Erin and Nathan; one great-granddaughter, Lucia; and two sisters, Laura Lee Hidder and Vonda Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Ken, Lloyd, Lynne and Virgil Freeman.
Jeannine was born the daughter of Ethmer and Laura (Stobaugh) Freeman on January 17, 1933, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Marion High School in 1951. On September 23, 1952, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Nielson at the Marion Christian Church. Bill and Jeannine farmed for many years.
Jeannine sang with the Farm Bureau Choir, had been an assistant 4-H leader and was a member of the YMCA Board of Directors.
Memorials, in memory of Jeannine, may be given to Hospice of Mercy.
