M. Allen McBurney, 66, of Toddville, died in his home on Monday, June 26, 2006. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2006, at the Toddville Free Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Yeoman. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Edith; his children, Jerry (Camie) McBurney, Candy (Larry) Rowe and David (Diana) McBurney all of Toddville; seven grandchildren, Kara (Kelly) Kirk, Kendra (John) Myers Jr., Jesse (Teresa) McBurney, Adam (Nikki) Rowe, Shelly McBurney (Scott Sauer), Amy (Marc) Rawson and Stefanie (Dustin) Becker; eight great-grandchildren, Kolton and Kallie Kirk, Alyvia Myers, Seth McBurney, Lane and Landyn Rowe, McKenna Rawson and Devin Becker; his mother, Valera McBurney of Toddville; a sister, Betty Lou (Ernie) Paul of Toddville; a brother, Larry (Betty) McBurney of Toddville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, who died January 16, 2001.
Allen was born December 9, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, to Melvin Claude McBurney and Valera Dell (Cress) McBurney. On January 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Edith Marie Boddicker at the Toddville Free Methodist Church. He was a lifetime Toddville resident except for twelve years when he lived in Georgia. Allen worked for many years in construction, and will be remembered for always taking pride in his work. He enjoyed horses, especially draft horses.
Allen loved his family more than anything and touched many lives. He was loved and will be dearly missed.
