Lyle Duane ""Frenchy"" French

Lyle Duane “Frenchy” French, 60, of 4401 Woodsonia Ct. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a battle with lung cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Crow of the Christ United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; his daughter, Melanie (Josh) Moses of Cedar Rapids; his son, Ben (Angie Nolan) French of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Luke Moses; a sister, Sharon (Nathan) Grieder of Belle Plaine; his dog, Mickey Sue; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle was born January 15, 1948, the son of Lyle and Jean (Huffman) French, in Osage, Iowa. A 1966 graduate from Belle Plaine High School, he was united in marriage to Mary Wehr on June 24, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Lyle was an auto body repairman and worked at All Iowa Auto Body, Golden Hammer, K & H Auto and Allen’s.
Lyle enjoyed working on and restoring his old cars. He also enjoyed trout fishing, taking care of his yard and being with his friends. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially with his grandson and his dogs, Maggie May, Molly Dot and Mickey Sue. Lyle was loved very much by his family and was a driving force for his children and their success. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
