Lyle Arthur Cameron, 70, of Alburnett, Iowa, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, of apparent heart failure. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa, by Rev. H. Burr Bryant. Friends may call from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Roberta “Bert”; a son, Lonny of Alburnett; two daughters, Rhonda (Tim) Lange of Alburnett and Rita (Dave) Schuchmann of Toddville; a brother, Keith (Martha) Cameron of Lilburn, Georgia; a sister, Betty (Doug) Coleman of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; and 5 grandchildren, Kristina, Dustin, Christian, Madelyn and Alexandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle was born the son of Arthur D. and Grace M. (Avis) Cameron on February 12, 1937 in rural Center Point. He married Roberta Marie Seevell on April 28, 1956 in Cedar Rapids. Lyle was a truck driver with A.W. Schmidt Transfer in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1994 after 38 years. Lyle was a member of the Alburnett United Methodist Church, the Two Rivers Sam’s Camping Club, a former member of the Alburnett Community School Board and a past member of Alburnett Historical Society. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local #238 and served 29 years on the Alburnett City Council.
Lyle enjoyed camping, traveling, and monthly card club. He loved time spent on the farm and time with his children and grandchildren, including sporting events and many years at the county and state fairs. Lyle truly enjoyed the 13 years he spent in retirement. He will be remembered for his love of working hard and his work ethic.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lyle’s name.
