Lydia Rose Hard, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Grinnell Health Care Center. Visitation: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Lydia was born on April 28, 1935, in Summerset, Wisconsin, the daughter of Slyvanie and Hazel (Fisk) Constant. She was united in marriage to Ray Hard II on May 9, 1953. Lydia worked for Wilson Packaging for 30 years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Local P-3 Retirees. Lydia enjoyed camping, puzzles and boating. She loved to cook and would bake cookies for everyone. Lydia’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Ray (Penny) Hard III of Brooklyn, Iowa, Ricky Hard of Cedar Rapids, and Russell Hard of Palo, Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvanie and Hazel; husband, Ray in 2008; daughter, Roxann Colby; brother, Duane; and half-siblings, Howard and June.
