Luther Davis, 80, of Colesburg, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Colesburg.

Luther was born December 9, 1925 in Colesburg, son of Robert I. and Mabel (Chambers) Davis. He attended school in Colesburg. On September 15, 1951 Luther was united in marriage to Beverly Irene Bemis in Dubuque.

Luther worked many different jobs, including bartender, mason, mechanic, semi-truck driver and over thirty years with Kuhlman Construction before retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, volunteered on the Colesburg Fire Department, and drove bus for Colesburg Schools. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.

Luther is survived by a daughter, Betty (Roger) Ziel of Manchester; five grandchildren, William Bush, Lee Bush, Jr., Kelly (Christina Schlimmer) Bush, Scott (Stephanie) Bush, and Sheri (Craig) Faris; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Davis of Edgewood.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Mabel Davis; his wife, Beverly Davis; two sisters, Berdeno Davis and Louisa Bolsinger; and two nephews, Howard Bolsinger and Robert "Bob? Davis.
